Wayne grew up in Michigan raising and showing Shetland ponies. Being small from the beginning he was often first to ride the families many ponies. As he grew up he won numerous ribbons in all classes from riding, to halter and driving. As he grew older the racing world drew him away. A successful jockey he served time in the Army and returned home to finish his college degree in Business. But the lure of speed was to much and he returned to the world of racing. After spending many years in the Midwest he traveled to Weatherford, Texas to ride and train. A short stint in El Paso convinced him that he preferred the warmer climate of South Texas. He established Oak Haven Farm in 1991 and has never looked back.
Through out the years he has ridden and raced many horses. The thrill of victory is still sweet as it was on the day he won his first race. His kind but firm method of teaching young horses to behave has made him a favorite among not only race horse owners but show horse owners too. Often their is a wide variety of horses in at the farm to be trained from Thoroughbreds to Paints to Quarter Horses to Warmbloods! All are treated to the same basic theory that results in a obedient willing animal that can go on to perform at its best no matter what career field.
Foaling takes up much of the spring time but the wonderful climate allows for year round training. Often there is a waiting list to get your horse worked with but the wait is worth it!
